Ummm…what part of IT’S SPRING do they NOT get?

My son has played traveling basketball for the last few years. Lots of practice, lots of tournaments.

I remember the first tournament. It was ‘our’ tournament…the athletic association he plays for.

Now…we pay about $275 a year for them to play. You would think we’d get a break to attend our OWN tournament. HA!

$5 entrance fee…PER day they play.

I should have kept track of how many $5 entry fees I had to pay over the last years. Along with the gas, the high concession prices, the hotel rooms, the food…

What we parents won’t do for our kids.

His last tournament is this weekend.  He probably won’t play next year, since he’s going to be in high school and involved in tons of other stuff.

SPRING!!!

OK, maybe not, it’s March, after all, and I know we have at least ONE snowstorm in our future here in MN, but dang it, it’s going to be 50 (YES FIVE OHHH) here today again, and it’s one of those days I just want to clean.

I have no idea where to start…maybe throw the teen into the tub? Well, maybe when he wakes his little butt up at about 2…he’s on Spring break right now, so he’s taking advantage of it…little does he know what he’s in for once he DOES wake up…

I have SO much ‘stuff’ I need to list on eBay…and I don’t know where to start with it…maybe just starting would be good, eh?

I may just start tossing stuff into tubs, and do a tub at a time.

I don’t know what I’m going to be writing about, but my life is a mishmash of many things.

I’m a MOM first and foremost. To a teen. (Scary, eh?).

I’m a single mom…his sperm donor and I split up when he was 6. His ‘father’ has chosen not to be involved in his life, for whatever reason.

I’m an employee…I mostly love my job. It enables me to BE a Mom. It gives me the flexibility to be home when my child is. It gives me the flexibility to be there for him when I’m needed (mostly for food and taxi service, but I am rewarded with hugs and I love you Mom’s. I miss the I love you “Mommy’s”, but…he’s a teen).

I dabble in Ebay.

I like the treasure hunting part more than I do the listing and shipping parts of my ‘dabbling’.

I’m an inveterate bargain hunter. I have a teen that is getting into ‘name’ clothing. Did you know that Hollister has clearance clothes? Thank God!!!

He’s really a good kid. He usually gets great grades, and scores over the top on all tests. The school vice principal last week told me he is ‘scary smart’. Of course, this was after my child had texted me on his cell phone during a class. That may have saved his butt from a MUCH harsher punishment!

He has a ‘girlfriend’.  Who is probably not happy with me, since she got busted for texting during school, too, after she texted him while I was there after they had confiscated my son’s phone.

I dread his first breakup. I know it will happen sometime. This week? Next week? Who knows, but I hope his 14 yr old heart heals fast.

I am going to have to buy him a razor soon. He is getting a moustache.
